TEAM WORK AND ITS IMPORTANCE

Teamwork is very much essential for competing in today's global arena,where individual perfection is not as desirable as a high level of collective performance.TEAM is "Together Everyone Achieves More".There is no I in teamwork.It is less 'me' and more 'We'.It is possible to achieve almost anything as long as one is not worried about who gets the credit.In knowledge based enterprises,teams are the norm rather than the exception.It is always good to work in a team due to its advantages like a variety of thoughts and ideas pool up together,lesser utilisation of time to complete an activity and very cost efficient for the companies.A critical feature of team is that they have a significant degree of empowerment or decision making authority.There are different types of teams according to the need.Top management team to formulate the objectives,policies and rules, focussed task forces to complete a given job,self directed teams where join a team voluntarily to achieve a common goal,Product/service devt teams to launch or develop a product and many more.Whether in the work place or on the football field,or even amongst members of a community,effective team work can produce incredible results.In order for teamwork to be successful there must be great communication between all the team memebers for productivity and goal attainment.teamwork in the company has great importance for more than one reason.Companies,who have embraced the concept have reported increased performance in work production,problem solving and has stimulated new growth.Team work increases the output of a firm with maximum utilisation of resources and minimum wastage.
