IS BT BRINJAL A THREAT OR NOT....

Bacillus Thuringienisis Brijal popularly known as Bt brinjal, is a new discovery in the world of biotechnology.Bt brinjal genetically modified strain created by Mahyco in collaboration with American multinational Mansanto, was to improve yields and help the agriculture sector.As there is a confusion about the safety of brinjal, the scientists, farmers and enviornment activists are working on it.Enviornment activists have done some experiments on rat and found out that these GM crops can cause fatal desease in lungs and kidneys.It is also said that it is dangerous to introduce these experimental foods into the market without proper research.A study by French scientist Gilles Eric Sereline says the test conducted by Manco,was simply not valid and raised serious health concerns.Besides that Genetic Engineering Approval Committe has shown bias towards companies like the Monsanto.This would be a big threat to India's agriculture with MNCs charging indian farmers for their seeds.
