Advertisements - The Consumer's Dilemma

In today's age of Globalisation, the Indian economy is witnessing a huge boom and is having very robust growth. All this translates not only into an improvement in the quality of life of the people, but has also attracted hordes of foreign investors who make best use of the situation. Consequently, products have flooded the market and the consumers find it a whole lot tougher to make a choice about what to buy and what not to.
In this dilemma when the consumers look up to the advertisements to ease their confusion, they are bitterly disappointed. Instead of aiding their decision-making, the advertisements have only made things worse. Most of the companies particularly in the private sector try and woo the consumers by making attractive offers and offering very high discounts. This has left the consumers in a very muddled state of mind. Finally, all this indecision has led the consumers to make the wrong choice and pay dearly for doing so, as some of the companies are very deceiving and fail to stick to their world.
The only way out for consumers would be to constantly stay alert. Taking the decision after carefully weighing the pros and cons and not being irrational or hasty is the key. The Government should also do enough to ensure that the consumers are not cheated in any way and should provide redressal for their grievances.
