SHIV SENA’S DIRTY POLITICS

You may have read about the recent happenings in Mumbai where Shiv Sena Party is in the news for all the wrong reasons. I would like to list 2 recent happenings why I consider Shiv Sena is playing their dirty gimmicks to win the locals support.

Let me start with the most recent issue where Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray has called Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan a ‘traitor’. Shiv Sena hit out at Shahrukh khan who is also the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner after he said that he would have picked Pakistani players for IPL3 if his team had a slot and has been asked to apologize for this favourism. Sena party members are planning to oppose the screening of Shahrukh’s new forthcoming film “My Name is Khan” and its promotions. I can’t understand what’s the big deal in this or how can he be termed a traitor.

Another issue that I want to raise is about Congress leader & MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Mumbai on 5th Friday. Rahul Gandhi had said that Mumbai belongs to all Indians and that during 26/11Mumbai terror attacks many of the NSG commandos were from other states especially Bihar & UP. On this Udhav Thackeray criticized him for his comments and told that he was insulting the 26/11 martyrs and that Mumbai belonged to Maharashtra and Marathi people only. Shiv Sena also called for black flag demonstration against him on his arrival for this remark.

But MP Rahul Gandhi arrived & laughed away all threats from Shiv Sena without any problems. Amidst this tight security & protest he even withdrew cash from ATM, waited in queue and took ticket and boarded & travelled by Andheri-Dadar local train during peak hours. Kudos to Rahul Gandhi.

Now the question arises is where is Shiv Sena heading upto? How long will they distract the minds of local Mumbai people from core issues like unemployment ,slums, pollution & crime? There is a limit of playing such dirty politics and bullying people in the name of regionalism.
