Following up on his success at the Academy Awards, where he picked up two Oscars, The Mozart of Madras, AR Rahman, scored a double yet again, winning two Grammy Awards for his music in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman won the Grammys for the best compilation soundtrack and the best motion picture song, beating competitiors like Bruce Springsteen, Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, True Blood and Twilight.
Likewise, he has composed many songs which is been well known even now. His fame rose when Roja's score met with high scales and acclaim. And he has been successful in all his works, composing music for Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu movies and even in international ones in English, Japanese, Chinese, etc.
Rahman has involved himself for various social services. He is the Global Ambassador of the Stop TB Partnership, a WHO project. He has even shown support to charities, helping the orphans and even inspired the 'Free Hugs Campaign' and promoted it through a video shot in various cities in India.
Rahman is been seen as a source of inspiration for other young aspirants. With a population of more than 100 crore, India has just produced only one Grammy winning musician. So, we as fellow Indians must concerntrate on such budding artists and help them grow in their area of interest. And our education system need to give more scope for fine arts, literature and arts, rather than forcing them to take Engineering, Medicine and MBA. Who knows one day someone among them will become another A R Rahman. And let's hope that God be great again.
Jai Ho!
