Having deservedly become the top ranked team in test cricket,india must address its most obvious vulnerability if it is to prolong its reign. If we observe the sites that were successful over long periods were powered by atleast two champion bowlers, but our Indian bowling statistics are not satisfying. In seven of India's last 9 test series it has conceded over 500 in an innings atleast once.
Spin, traditionally India's strength demand attention. Harbhajan Singh's performance as lead spinner after the great Anil kumble's retirement has been patchy. He has on occasion swung the matches, but is yet to command the consistency and penetration his role demands. Neither Amit Mishra nor Pragyan Ojha has made a clinching case as second spinner, but they must be allowed both time and trust. Any bowler capable of defeating high quality batsmen in defence must be kept from slipping through the cracks in the system. Bowlers are susceptible, so they require considerate, naunced treatment. At present India is enjoying the no 1 status because of its batting strength, and if it has to maintain that it needs to be in search for high quality fast bowlers.

I agree to your blog but you should look in to the reasons of the unavailabilty of good slow bowlers. It is because of the inefficiency of the selectors to foresee the gap that can be created by the retirement of anil kumble. If they have anticipated it, then there may have more and more opportunities for the young spinners. i am not supporting your statement that good fast bowlers should be in the team. we already have gooD fast bowlers who can exploit the conditions of anywhere in the world. I think we should have some good spin bowlers because spin bowlers are the biggest strength of Indian cricket in the past years and also India is not having the suitable pitches to bring up good fast bowlers. But we can produce the best of spinners and also we have to give sufficient opportunities for the young spinners.
