Racism

Racism may be defined as the race-based prejudice, violence, dislike, discrimination, or oppression, the term can also have varying and contested definitions.in other words, racism is the belief that characteristics and abilities can be attributed to people simply on the basis of their race and that some racial groups are superior to others.
Racism has been a raging issue for quite sometime. The racial attacks against Indians in Australia is still a problem to be solved. The neighborhoods, night duties and the compelsion to stay back in the country forms the triad for racial attacks. The racial attacks against Indians in particular is also supported by the indifference in attitude of the Indian people. As stated in the ‘Outlook’ many Indians who have settled in Australia says that they have never felt there is racism in the country.
During the National day , the Australian Prime Minister's nephew, artist-activist Van Rudd was removed from Melbourne Park by police after an anti-racism protest. Van Rudd and Sam King, from the Revolutionary Socialist Party dressed in Ku Klux Klan outfits, staged a quiet protest outside Rod Laver Arena as the quarter-final match between Belgian Justine Henin and Russian Nadia Petrova began. The protest failed to attract public attention, with tennis fans largely ignoring the pair as they entered Melbourne Park. This initiative comes as a relief for Indians in Australia.
Racial attacks is to be seen as a violation of human rights. Strict laws should be imposed so that people stay away from such indiscriminate actions.
