Corporate social responsibility (CSR), also known as corporate responsibility, corporate social performance, is a form of corporate self regulation integrated into a business model. This basically means that the steps taken by the firms themselves to maintain their staus in the society by contributing to it .Ideally, CSR policy would function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure its adherence to law, ethical standards, and international norms. Business would embrace responsibility for the impact of their activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public. Furthermore, business would proactively promote th public by encouraging community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminating practices that harm the public sphere, regardless of legality. An essential component of our corporate social responsibility is to care for the community. The endeavor to make a positive contribution to the underprivileged communities by supporting a wide range of socio-economic, educational and health initiatives. Many of the community projects and programs are driven by active participation from employees. Essentially, CSR is the deliberate inclusion ofpublic intrest to corporatedecision making.
The practice of CSR is subject to much debate and criticism. Proponents argue that there is a strong business case for CSR, in that corporations benefit in multiple ways by operating with a perspective broader and longer than their own immediate, short-term profits. Critics argue that CSR distracts from the fundamental economic role of businesses; others argue that it is nothing more than superficial window dressing others yet argue that it is an attempt to pre-empt the role of governments as a watchdog over powerful multinational corporations. Corporate Social Responsibility has been redefined throughout the years. However, it essentially is titled to aid to an organization's mission as well as a guide to what the company stands for and will uphold to its consumers.
The educational institutions established help by improving, guiding and inspiring the lives of the underprivileged, and gives direct assistance and resources to individuals, families and other charitable organizations. Nurturing experiences and personal opportunities are also provided for those in the community who have little or no access to any assistance.Like offering many facilities for the under preveliged like free education. Help the homeless and disabled by particpateing and organising events. Charity events and clean local areas to reduce waste and also create awareness among the people. By this institutions are creating awareness among the students about the importence of social responcibility.
