Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Resposibility(commonly known as CSR) is the most important responsibility of every corporate to give back something to the society.The survival of the corporate depends on its acceptance by the society.Thus,it is so imporatent to serve the society where the corporate exists.When we list about the damages caused by the corporates or industries firstly,the industries and the corporates exhaust the existing resources or pollute them by their production or operation.All the industrial wastes are being dumped in the fresh water rivers,lakes,ponds etc.Thus the sources of fresh waters for the people of that region reduces.secondly,the emission of toxic gases by chemical industries pollute the atmosphere thereby causing air pollution.There are also other damages that are caused by the upcoming industries to the nature in the name of business and profit.Profit making alone should not be the sole aim for the corporates or business.For the surviavl of business with a larger market share,reputaion plays an important role and that is possible only if the society is happy with their performance.CSR activities should be donr not as a result of force or compulsion.It is not just that industries cause damages so they should perform projects.It can also be in the form of charity where they involve in helping poor children or orphans who are in real need of basic necessities for life.CSR projects includes to be environment friendly by keeping the state or a particular region away from any kinds of pollution or sustainable use of resources.We have a few examples of companies like ITC who contribute Re.1 to rural development initiative for every purchase of their notebooks.These kinds of activities will increase their sales also.P&G alo contribues a ceratin amount of their sales towards education of poor children.Thus it is the resposibility of every corporate to undertake a CSR project.This is presently a compulsory activity.But if it is not compulsory business should not run only for the profit objective.It should serve the society also.
